What’s Ausbildung in Germany?

Ausbildung is a German vocational training program, also known as Apprenticeship in English Language.

Once you are accepted in a German company, your Ausbildung Training is split into two parts

Your first association will be with a German company.

You will then be employed as an apprentice.

A vocational school, also known in German as a Berufsschule, will also be your affiliation. You will be able to take training classes.

To attend both of these places, you will need to divide your time according to your apprenticeship period.

If you apply for Ausbildung in a Hotel, for example, you will need to work three days in the assigned department in order to acquire practical knowledge.

You may be assigned to different departments. For example, you might be asked to work one month in housekeeping and one month as room service. One month in front of the office is required so you can gain experience in hotel management.

You’ll spend the remaining days of your week at your vocational training school (Berufsschule), where you will study your assigned technicalities and category.

Your vocational training school will administer your final and midterm exams.

Your final Ausbildung score will include grades received from your vocational training school and company.

As per your performance on the exams, your grades will be based on your work and training school.

The Ausbildung program usually lasts 3-4 years.

Language Requirement For Ausbildung in Germany

German is the language of vocational training school.

All exams are held in German.

Practical training can also be conducted in German.

It might vary if there are English-speaking employees. Usually, communication will take place in German.

You must meet the minimum requirement, or level, for the German language. You must be able to show that you have at least B1.

However, you will be able to communicate fluently in German. This is essential for the Ausbildung program.

A good command of German is the most important requirement for employers when hiring apprentices from abroad.

Education Requirement For Ausbildung in Germany

Non-European citizens, such as those from India or other countries, must have a 12th grade certificate. You can choose any subject. This is the minimum academic requirement for applicants from non-European countries to apply for a Ausbildung program in Germany.

Higher-level qualifications, such as a diploma or degree, can also apply.

Some training institutions and companies have a minimum age requirement of 30.

How does a non-EU citizen apply to study in Germany?

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • Cover letter if required.
  • Attested/certified work experience letters (only if relevant)
